Specialized "Bridges" Alzheimer's Unit The Atrium provides safe and secure home for residents with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of memory impairment, totally independent of our larger Atrium community. This special secure unit on the fifth floor is a community unto itself, with separate activity areas, dining areas and personnel trained to apply best practices in Alzheimer's care on a daily basis. We celebrate the uniqueness of each individual, learning as much as we can from family and friends, and special efforts are made to minimize the frustrations of failing memory and disorientation. This allows each individual to participate in life at the Atrium on a level comfortable to that resident and in keeping with family wishes. The staff at the Atrium has received specialized training from the Alzheimer's Association of New Jersey. In addition, we offer support groups and counseling for families affected by Alzheimer's disease. Scheduled throughout the month are a multitude of activities. In a typical month, residents of Bridges can take part in the following events:
Levels of Assistance on "Bridges" Some Atrium residents will require more assistance with meals, personal care and medication than others. For this reason we offer two supplemental levels of care, over and above the services enjoyed by every Atrium resident. An Atrium healthcare professional will discuss the best and most appropriate level of care with each new resident prior to admission. And, as each resident's needs change, the level of care will change to provide for the greatest comfort.
All residents enjoy:
Bridges Level 1 (Minimal Support)
Bridges Level 2 (Maximum Support)
